Chacha festival program
Initiated by theChamber of Georgian Culture, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, National Wine Agency, National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – “Sakpatenti”, Agency of Produce in Georgia and Governor of Kakheti region With the support of the ration, on November 2, 2019, the annual festival “Chacha” will be held at King Erekle Square in Telavi.
Foreign tourists coming to Georgia are very interested in centuries-old history of various parts of Georgia, everyday issues of Georgian people, traditions, customs and rituals. In this regard, the Kakheti region is very interesting and diverse and the festival will revive the ethnography, life and customs of Kakhetian middle ages.
The “festival of Chacha” includes small theatrical performances that will revive the ethnography, tradition and rituals of the Kakheti region. Specifically the interdependence of famers in Kakheti, the process of distillation of farmers from different villages of Kakheti;
Within the framework of the festival Georgian natural product “Chacha” will be promoted as a registered protected geographical indication and will be presented by “Sakpatenti” National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia. Georgian chacha production companies will participate in the festival.
There will be a big Kakhetian “Zaodoba”, where every tourist will be able to participate.
Along with the distillation of Chacha, cooking of Kakhetian cuisine will take place.
The festival will be hosted by famous Georgian, leading actor of Telavi Theater, Vano Yantbelidze, who will present each company, farmer and their chacha individually with their little secrets throughout the festival from 12:00 to 18:00.
Kakhetian folk groups will decorate the festival throughout the day with traditional Kakhetian polyphonic songs and kaphi.
During the festival, the jury members will conduct workshops to promote the Georgian natural product – the grape brand “Chacha” and introduce the invited guests to the history, useful features of chacha and to make them fall in love with this natural Georgian product.
The revival of Kakheti in this format will be very interesting not only for foreign visitors and tourists but also for Georgian citizens.
During the festival the judges will participate, members of which will taste and evaluate separately the chacha from the Farmers whom are from different villages of Kakheti and the chacha from the chacha production companies;
At the end of the festival on 18:00, the jury will announce the verdict, which will be performed by Maka Zambakhidze and the band NON STOP.
Chacha Festival will be held in the framework of Check in Georgia.
Invited guests will engage in all of the activities listed above along with the event hosts at the start of the festival – namely, Participate in the process of chacha distillation, They will taste the chacha presented by the companies, Together with the chacha tasting, considering the Kakhetian hosts, they will taste the Kakha dishes that go well with chacha; You will get acquainted with the peculiarities of the Kakhetian colorful market and the food-store presented there, Tourists who were chosen will receive surprises from the organizers at the final concert of the festival.
